Project Description

New York Transco developed the New York Energy Solution (NYES), an upstate to downstate electric transmission
upgrade project.

The New York Energy Solution (NYES) replaces and upgrades transmission facilities to relieve congestion on New York’s bulk electric power system, while enhancing reliability and facilitating clean energy resources in the upstate region to
downstate demand centers.

NYES will retire, replace and upgrade aging electric infrastructure staying within existing utility rights-of-way and on utility-owned property. Core components of the project include – a new approx. 55-mile 345 kV electric transmission line from Schodack, NY to Pleasant Valley, NY, a new switching station in Schodack, a rebuilt switching station in Claverack, a new capacitor bank station in Pleasant Valley, and ancillary transmission upgrade work in Rensselaer, Dutchess and Columbia Counties.

Scope of Works

Undertake third-party, independent review of helical pile foundation construction and structural steel grillage to ensure design and engineering is in accordance with industry standards.

Undertake review and report on background information including transmission line boring maps, geotechnical report data, specifications and helical pile design data.

Perform a detailed review of the initial helical pile test report and each subsequent report revision additional structures

Review and interpret available geotechnical information pertinent to helical piles foundation.

Review and interpret available structural engineering pertinent to structural steel grillages.

Review the helical piles analysis and design conducted by Designers for piles per segment.

Review available installation records and pile load tests data.

Provide a report documenting the findings related to the observations made on the geotechnical report, adequacy of the design of helical piles and deviation of installed helical piles from design.
